A few things to extend the life of your pot.

Terra cotta pots are porous and will weather naturally over time. There are some things you can do to extend the life of your pot:

1. Protect your pot from extreme weather. A great spot for the pot is under a sheltered porch. Usually pots that are under a covered porch last longer than ones that are out in direct weather.

2. Pots should be gently cleaned (no scrubbing) and stored inside in a warm dry place during the harsh winter months.

3. Normal watering is fine for the pot, but it’s best not to put it where it will be pounded by the sprinklers. It is also very important if you set it in a saucer that you empty out the water that drains off. Letting it sit in standing water can damage the pot as well as the plant! The inside of the pot has been sealed to help prevent water absorption. It's also a good idea to line the inside of the pot with plastic (such as a grocery bag) before planting for added protection - just don’t forget to poke a hole in the bottom for drainage!

4. You may seal the outside of the pot if you wish with an acrylic spray sealer available for purchase at any crafts store.

I sincerely appreciate your purchase, and I hope you enjoy your pot!
